Its funny how you can go an entire year unknowing and then on March 17th suddenly everyone has Irish heritage!

Well its true, I do have Irish heritage. My whole family on my mother’s side are Irish.

I remember my Pa and his funny sense of humour. As he got older his hearing was getting worse. One time I said something to him and Pa says “one sec I have to put my glasses on I can’t hear you”. Not only was he funny, one of his favourite past times was heading off to the Office on a Friday night (The local Pub) returning with Fish n Chips. He always dressed well and tipped his hat to every “lady” he saw, no matter what how young or old.

I used to stay with them on school holidays and Pa always bought Nana and I breakfast in bed. It never occurred to me that Pa didn’t get to sleep in his own bed when I stayed. My grandmother was a wonderful seamstress and Pianist and a classic Grandma/Nana with the softest hands.

Every St Pats day I take a moment to remember all those beautiful memories. I hope everyone has a special Irish someone, today it appears we all do.
